The
first addition to this nucleus was carried out in 1850, when an opening
was created on the east side of one of the cellars. Stalls were built
with vaulted ceilings and arched partions, the uncovered ceiling still
allows us to see the original structure (Billiard room
"sala del
biliardo")
and a hayloft on the floor above.
A
few years later (around 1890), the large hayloft was added, just south
of the main building, the top floor was used for storing hay and grain
(“Vineria”) and the lower floor was used for storing carts and
agricultural tools.
At
the end of the 1800’s another stall was built onto the west side of
the 15th century cellars.
In
this room are the remainders of an affresco dedicated to Saint Anthony,
protector of farmyard animals (Saint Anthony room
"la sala di
S. Antonio").
This room, above which is another hayloft of which we can still see the
staircase, was built with second hand materials and its asymmetry is
very evident, iron beams, stone columns and only one capital.
One thing still very visible in the “Taverna Del Parco” is the
filling in with bricks to sustain the barrel vault after inserting a new
opening to the stalls.
During
a maintenance operation an antique stone well was discovered under the
south facing portico. In a wonderful state of conservation, it is
visible in the small room created by the partial closing off of the
portico (Well Room
"la sala del
pozzo").
